SELAM – Nuru ya Jamii Initiative CBO is a registered community-based organization in Kisumu, Kenya. Founded by committed local members, we address urgent social and economic challenges affecting vulnerable families in Kisumu County.

Empowering Women and Girls Through Health Education

Today afternoon, we held our first EmpowerHer session with girls from the community. We talked about menstrual health, personal hygiene, and how to take care of themselves. Through this program, we meet every first weekend of the month to educate, support, and empower girls. We also provide sanitary pads and other essential personal care items to help them manage their periods with dignity. One girl empowered at a time.

We are excited to see our Fashion and Design program grow. We started with just one sewing machine, and we now have two, allowing more learners to participate and gain practical tailoring skills. Step by step, we continue creating opportunities, building skills, and empowering our community towards self-reliance.
